About the Rooms

About the Registered Cultural Property Locations
In April of the 26th year of Heisei, the inn was registered as a national tangible cultural property. Three items were registered, preserving the early Ryokan architecture during the modern Yugawara Onsen development:

[1] Main building rooms 51 and 52, built in 1912-1913 (hearsay) for the accommodation of Duke Minoru Takeda, the chamberlain of Emperor Meiji. [2] Main building rooms 17, 18, and 19, built in 1926, where the 16th head of the Tokugawa family stayed, and it is also associated with the February 26th Incident.

Additionally, items registered as "a standard of form" and "difficult to reproduce" include [3] the granite gatepost and the stone wall made of Honkomatsu stone, both from the early Showa period (around 1925), which are rare due to their round-faced gateposts and hock-shaped coping stones.

When you visit, you will see these elements, and guests can explore the buildings from the early Taisho period.
About the Rooms in Registered Cultural Properties
There are a total of 5 rooms in the registered cultural properties. While preserving the appearance at the time of construction, renovations have been made, especially in water-related areas. All rooms have toilets with heated seats and bidet functions. Guests who may be concerned about the convenience before their visit often feel relieved when they see the rooms. The main building may not compete with the new building in terms of soundproofing and confidentiality, but those who appreciate the traditional atmosphere may prefer the rooms in the main building.

The new building, built in the Heisei era, provides a refreshing space, and guests appreciate the calmness of the main building with its tiled roof. Please choose the room that suits your preference.
About the Baths in the New Building
The bright new building, where sunlight pours in, has baths in all rooms. However, the water in these baths is not hot spring water. For hot spring baths, please use the gender-separated indoor baths or the two private reserved baths.
About Toilets in the Inn
All toilets in the inn are Western-style with warm-water washing functions. Even the main building, built from the early Taisho era to post-war, has modern water facilities. We hope you can feel the traditional charm along with the comfort of modern facilities.
Smoking Policy
Responding to customer feedback and the increasing trend towards non-smoking, the entire building, including rooms, has been non-smoking since 2019. We apologize for any inconvenience to smokers and ask for your understanding and cooperation. Smoking guests can use the smoking room on the 1st floor.
Air Conditioning and Heating
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning. Please adjust it to your liking.
